Correspondence BCA Course and MBA in IT - Way To Computer World


Computing majors will be taking computer science courses. Therefore, computer science faculty will be teaching a higher percentage of service courses and a higher percentage of non- computer science majors overall. However, an increase in overall computer science course credit hours is likely in the future, which means an even greater need for resources and faculty in computer science departments.

3. At the same time, computer science curricula must evolve so that its BCA students can continue to effectively compete in the workplace.
4. Computer science departments need to be prepared to teach more service courses.

At institutions with more than one academic department and/or college that offers computing-related degrees, the quality of these programs often depends on how well these departments can effectively work together to obtain the amount of faculty and resources required to meet student demand. This is especially important for a quickly growing field (such as computing) in academia, where it is harder to effect transfers of personnel and resources than in industry, due to such factors as tenure. For instance, at Texas Tech University, students with computing majors make up over 6% of the student body, but those programs have only about 2.5% of the university faculty.

Finally, in order to understand what the needs of computer science education will be in 2020, the evolving role of teaching computer science to no majors must be considered. Twenty years ago, both computer literacy and computer programming courses were commonly taught to a variety of non-majors. However, since then there have been several events that have affected the need for computing knowledge and skills for non-computer science majors, including the invention and proliferation of personal computers.
